
LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport Speedway opened a new racing season Saturday, which also marked the 50th anniversary of the Northern California Racing Association, the speedway’s parent organization, and the debut of new track announcer Nathan Long.
Competing on the quarter-mile oval at the Lake County Fairgrounds in week one were the Taco Bell bombers, bandoleros, Jammers, Legends and Pro-4 modifieds.
Bombers
Bob Mook won the main event in the Taco Bell bombers division, taking the checkered flag in front of Bradley Brackett, Roy Ingalls Jr., Jimmy Sorrels and Jesse Frey.
Mook added another win in the heat race while Brackett won the trophy dash.
Pro-4 modifieds
Jimmy Badeker won the heat race and main event in the Pro-4 modified division. In the feature race, he crossed the finish line in front of Codi Barba, Marty Lewis, Rick Jelton and Sami Nuno.
Lewis won the trophy dash.
Jammers
Justin Moran nailed down his first main event win of the season in the Jammers division, finishing in front of Bo Robinson, Brandi Robertson, Gene Odell Jr. and Elizabeth Ingalls.
Moran’s night also included a win in the heat race.
Trophy dash honors went to Ingalls with Moran second.
Legends
Zach Frazer won the Legends main event while runner-up Bill Kistenmacher came in first in both the heat race and trophy dash.
Racing returns to Lakeport on April 30. Bombers, jalopies, Jammers and Pro Drifters are on the racing card as is the first boat race of the season.
