AETNA SPRINGS >> The one-two punch for the St. Helena High School golf squad, Connor Chesky and Ryan Johnson, didn’t disappoint on Wednesday as the teams of the Coastal Mountain Conference South, including Middletown and Kelseyville, visited the par-70 Aetna Springs Golf Course in Pope Valley.

“They rolled out the red carpet for us,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of the Aetna Springs staff led by pro Steve Flick. “They had gift packages for all the kids and towels. They really treated us well.”

While St. Vincent clinched another CMC South championship led by Jack Hood’s 3-under-par round of 67, Chesky and Johnson also had their A games going on the Napa County course. Chesky finished with the day’s low round, a 4-under-par 66 that featured five birdies and two eagles. He shot 6-under-par 29 on the back nine. Teammate Johnson was just a shot back at 67 and had five birdies during his round.

Low man for the Lake County contingent was Kelseyville sophomore Matt Wotherspoon with a 2-over-par 72 that included three birdies. Tyler McSween led Middletown with 87 and teammate Derek Coulter was right behind with 88.

Carson Kalvfelisch led Geyserville with a 78.

St. Vincent and Middletown had the only complete teams (at least four golfers) and St. Vincent won 336-362.

“It was a great day for golf on a beautiful course,” Berry said.

Next up for the CMC South is the first round of the CMC Championships next Wednesday at Windsor.
