Lakeport >> Charise Reynolds, Nick Powell, Katy Tipton, Nick Reid and the rest of the cast of the original musical, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” are deep in preparations for the play’s opening night. The new work, written by Tipton, runs through May 1 at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport.
The show is named for the celebrated Elton John album, and weaves all of the songs into in a story that follows one couple’s relationship and features a few colorful characters along the way. A live band, led by Tom Aiken, plays all the familiar Elton John favorites including Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night, and of course, the title song.
Performances take place on tonight at 7 p.m.; Saturday at 7 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.; April 29 at 7 p.m.; April 30 at 7 p.m.; and the last show on May 1 at 2 p.m. All seats reserved. Tickets on sale now at $20, $18 and $15.
