Middletown >> The Middletown Senior Center Board of Directors held a fundraiser in the form of a rummage sale on April 9 and 10 that netted more than $3,000.

They worked diligently and pulled off a great event for the community (rummage sale treasures), according to Middletown Senior Center Director Lori Tourville. Funds raised will be used for the center’s Meals on Wheels Program, which provides food to homebound seniors in the area.

A number of Valley Fire victims found treasures to add to their “new beginnings,” Tourville said. Others also found treasures they couldn’t live without. The board of directors worked for some time collecting rummage sale items, hauling the items to their homes to store, setting up the items in the facility for the sale, selling the items and assisting in loading newly purchased treasures in patrons’ cars.

This fundraiser was immediately following the March-4-Meals fundraiser which was supported by the board members.

In addition, the Middletown Senior Center will be participating in the its second Middletown Square Park Chili & Salsa Cook Off on May 21.

The senior center is located at 21256 Washington St. in Middletown. Visit http://middletownseniorcenter.org/ or call (707) 987-3113 for more information.
