LAKEPORT >> Clear Lake hosted Lower Lake, Willits, St. Vincent and Laytonville in a Coastal Mountain Conference meet on Wednesday afternoon at Clear Lake High School in Lakeport.
In the varsity boys’ division, Lower Lake’s Luis Ortiz had a big day with firsts in the 110-meter hurdles (18.6 seconds), the 300 hurdles (48.3) and the long jump (18 feet, 10 inches). Teammate Hanzel Pelcastre won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 35.6 seconds and the 1,600 in 5:44.8.
Also for the Trojans, Angel Jauregui won the 400 (1:00.9), Marlon Jones was first in the 100 (11.3), Gerardo Rodriguez won the 3,200 (13:16), and the 4×400 relay team came in first in 4:17.
In the varsity girls’ division, Clear Lake’s Meghan Beare won the 300 hurdles (57.0) and 1,600 (6:21) while teammate Camille Donald added firsts in the 200 (28.2) and high jump (4-10).
Other Clear Lake winners were Tasia Jardstrom in the 800 (2:48.7), Lindsey Dutcher in the discus (70-3), and the school’s 4×100 relay team.
Lower Lake winners were Jenny Landetta in the 3,200 (15:35) and Haylee Wade in the 100 (13.9).
In the junior varsity boys’ division, Lower Lake athletes dominated in running and field events, Romeo Barrientos won three events — the 110 hurdles (19.6), the 300 hurdles (53.7) and the high jump (4-10) — while teammate Charles Powell won the 100 (12.3) and 200 (24.6). Single-event winners were David Barrientos in the 3,200 (18:49), Virgil Ellis in the shotput (34-2), Brian Sanchez in the discus (84-9), Jordan Lott in the long jump (17-6) and the Lower Lake 4×400 relay team (5:04).
Clear Lake’s Brandon Dickey won the pole vault (8-0).
