UPPER LAKE >> The Technology Titans scored nine times in the top of the first inning and never looked back on Tuesday afternoon while thumping the host Upper Lake Cougars 22-0 in a North Central League II softball game called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Dani Baker’s grand slam was the big blow in the top of the first and one of two Technology home runs on the day. The other home run belonged to Kailey Zwinge, who connected for a solo shot in the top of the second.

Technology (2-1 league, 11-1 overall) led 14-0 after two innings.

Upper Lake (2-1, 5-8) was without two starters but it hardly mattered against a Titans squad that roughed up losing pitcher Julia Mooney for 14 hits. Baker, the winning pitcher, had two of those and a team-best eight RBIs. Morgan Cummesky, the Tech catcher, went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs.

Upper Lake finished with only three hits.
