LAKEPORT >> In a seesaw battle of North Central League I junior varsity baseball teams, the Clear Lake Cardinals fell 7-6 to the Willits Wolverines in eight innings on Tuesday afternoon in Lakeport.
Clear Lake (1-6) rallied from a 5-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead on Jason Garrison’s two-run single that capped a six-run bottom of the fourth inning for the Cardinals. Willits pulled even with a run in the sixth to force extra innings and then won the game with a run in the eighth.
Kyle Ashworth, the third Clear Lake pitcher of the game, took the loss. Brady McGuire opened the game on the mound for the Cardinals and worked 4 2/3 innings. Abraham Ojeda pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief before giving way to Ashworth in the seventh.
Chris White went 2-for-4 for the Cardinals while Damiata, Ashworth and Blair Hayes each contributed one hit and a RBI. Hayes’ hit was a double.
The Cardinals are home Friday to play Kelseyville at 4 p.m.
