The annual event is open to all law enforcement officers and firefighters. All tournament proceeds go to the Casting For Recovery organization, which supports breast cancer survivors and also teaches them how to fish and takes them on fly fishing trips.

The tournament is broken down into two tournaments with a winning team each day. Today’s winners will be determined after the 3 p.m. weigh-in at Skylark Shores.

Thursday’s winners, the Novotnys, brought a five-fish limit of 20.54 pounds to the scales. Jim Novotny is a member of the Sacramento Metro Fire Department.

Not far behind in second place were Lake County residents Joe and Brenda Reyes with 18.23 pounds. Joe, a firefighter/EMT for Sacramento Metro Fire, caught the big fish on Thursday at 8.13 pounds. Brenda was competing in her first tournament.

Bringing a five-fish limit of 14.07 pounds to the scales was the team of T.J. Loris and Adam Dellamonica, both of Sacramento Metro Fire.
