Lake County >> This week, representatives from the Sacramento Archaeological Society visited Lake County to scout and plan a two-day tour of heritage sites for the organization.

Lake County has the oldest lake in the Americas, heritage sites dating back 20,000 years, a national historic landmark heritage site, the Anderson Marsh State Historic Park, four museums and communities that have maintained their historic charm.

The group will stay at Lake County hotels and visit local restaurants and stores. During their scouting trip, society representatives Deborah McLear-Gary, Dan Foster (retired Cal Fire archaeologist) and John Foster (retired state park archaeologist) were escorted through Anderson Marsh by Lake County heritage expert John Parker, who will be joined by a member of The Archaeological Conservancy and representative of the Koi Tribe during the two-day tour.

On April 16 the Woodland Wanderers were also in Lake County for a heritage tour.
