KENTFIELD >> CORE Wrestling of Lower Lake closed out its season by competing in the Coastal Mountain Wrestling Association Championships on Saturday at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield.

Coach Ed Fuchs said 26 wrestlers opened the season with the team and 10 made it all the way through, most of them first-year wrestlers. Despite their inexperience, team members brought home their fair share of hardware. Leading the way was Mateo Garcia, who pinned all three of his opponents to finish first.

“He was an animal out there,” Fuchs said.

Dylan Neuharth brought home a second-place medal after battling two members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake. He won one and lost one.

Winning a third-place medal was Liberty Fuchs.

Falling short of medals were Miguel Garcia, Hailee McRae and Anthony McRae.
