LAKEPORT >> Justin Moran, David Jones and Laura Hunt nailed down main events victories on Saturday during the second points race of the 2016 season at the Lakeport Speedway.

The crowd also was entertained by the first boat race of the season, which is part racing and part destruction derby.

“The gates opened and people just kept coming in waves,” speedway promoter David Furia said. “Our gate personnel were kept busy all night and the officials had their hands full. It was exciting to see all the cars show up and the fans enjoying the show.”

Jammers

In the jammers division, Moran won the trophy dash and finished second in the heat race behind Elizabeth Ingalls. Later in the evening he went on to beat out Kevin Coburn, Brandi Robinson, David Rogers and Ingalls in the main event.

Bombers

In the Taco Bell bombers division, Bradley Brackett captured the trophy dash in front of Bob Mook, then Mook returned the favor in the heat race, winning in front of Brackett. In the main event that followed, Jones took the checkered flag in front of Wade Coleman, Brackett, Mook and Roy Ingalls Jr.

Jalopies

The T&T Towing and Last Mile Dismantling jalopies division saw John Barker win the first heat in front of Jason Hunter. Wayne Hunt took the second heat race in front of David Furia. In the main event, Hunt crossed the finish line first, Furia was second, Share Ireudeberg came in third, Chance Smith was fourth, and Jeffrey Silvin rounded out the top five.

Boat race

Driving his shark car, John Humphrey was declared the winner in the boat race. Sean Kite came in second and Jonathan Warren was third. Humphrey’s shark car was declared best of show.

Racing takes place this coming Saturday at the Ukiah Speedway. The racing card includes bandeleros, bombers, Legend cars, mini-stocks and the cars of the Pacific Challenge Late Model Series. Admission prices are $12 for adults,$9 for senior citizens and students, and $6 for children ages 5-11. A family pass that admits two adults and three children is available for $30.
