LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Air Quality Management District (AQMD) recently announced that it will lift the burn ban to approved small lots affected by the Valley Fire.
According to Air Pollution Control Officer Doug Gearhart, the exemptions will help property owners who have a lot of debris to remove on their. That way, he said, they can get to rebuilding sooner.
“There’s an imminent need to get it out of there…,” Gearhart added.
There may be another alternative but that will require coordination with the nearby Resource Conservation District to use its wood chipper.
The AQMD hopes to have a program in place by next week, he said.
In order for resident’s to qualify, they must first contact the AQMD, who will then get Cal Fire or the local fire agency to do an inspection. Its office can be reached at (707) 263-7000.
