The Lake County Symphony Youth Orchestra will begin the annual Mother’s Day concert with two popular pieces.
The first, “Blue Tango” by Leroy Anderson, and arranged by Bob Cerulli, is one of the most popular pieces in the Anderson collection. It was published in 1952 as an instrumental number, but later was made into a popular song with lyrics by Mitchell Parish and was recorded by a number of singers. The second piece, “Star Wars Heroes” with music by John Williams and arranged by Jerry Brubaker, delivers an exciting medley of popular selections from many of the Star Wars films such as “Star Wars” (main theme,) “Luke and Leia,” “Battle of the Heroes,” “Han Solo and the Princess” and “The Throne Room.”
The 21 member string orchestra features players from Grade 5 to Adult, and have been practicing these songs for many weeks in preparation for not only the Mothers’ Day concert, but also for their own concert to take place at the Soper Reese Theatre on Sunday, June 5. These two numbers will be only a part of
that concert
