
SAN RAMON >> Nine members of the Punishers Wrestlng Club of Lower Lake joined more than 200 wrestlers last weekend during the Mount Diablo Championships at California High School in San Ramon and three won first-place medals in both the freestyle and Greco divisions.
Isaiah Rubio was a combined 7-0 in freestyle and Greco competition in the 70-pound novice division, winning first-place medals in both.
Blake Fredrickson was no less dominant in the 106-pound cadet bracket where he was undefeated in both freestyle and Greco. He leaves for Temecula on Friday to compete in the Coastal Mountain All-Star Dual Team Championships.
The Punishers’ other dual first-place medalist was Myles Conatser, who won both the freestyle and Greco 60-pound intermediate divisions.
In other action, Austin Fredrickson went 4-0 in the 60-pound novice division to win a freestyle first-place medal. He added a second-place medal in the 70-pound novice Greco division, going 2-1.
Carter Rudolph won second-place medals in both freestyle and Greco in the 85-pound weight class.
Jonathan Fredrickson (69-89 pounds) added a second-place medal in Greco and a third-place medal in freestyle.
Also bringing home two medals — one for second place and the other for third — was Hayden Fowler in the 83-pound novice division.
Hugo Salazar a Lower Lake High School freshman and first-year wrestler, had a solid performance in Greco competition against some very seasoned high school cadet wrestlers and came away with a third-place medal.
