CLOVERDALE >> Teanne Edens cooled off Kelseyville High School’s hot bats of late and pitched the Cloverdale Eagles to a 9-0 victory over the Knights in North Central League I softball action on Thursday afternoon at Cloverdale.

Kelseyville (6-5 league, 9-5 overall) entered play a winner of three straight but Edens limited the Knights to four hits. Brown (2-for-3) had two of those and Hamner one, a double over the left-fielder’s head with two outs in the top of the first inning.

Brendelyn Pelzel went 1-for-3 for the Knights, who are fourth in the NCL I standings to Cloverdale’s second. The Eagles (10-2) are still alive in the league title race although both of their losses are to the still-undefeated Clear Lake Cardinals (9-0).

Edens struck out 13, walked only one and hit one batter. Only two Kelseyville runners made it as far as third base. The Knights’ best scoring chance came in the top of the fourth when they put runners at second and third with two outs, but the inning ended on a strikeout.

Losing pitcher Morgan Profitt allowed 11 hits, struck out nine but walked only two.

Kelseyville hits the road Saturday to play Middletown (3-8) at 1 p.m.
