LAKE COUNTY >> In the Red not only won the B division during the recent 32nd annual Konocti Cup Regatta on Clear Lake, but it won the overall Cup title with a crew that included Pat Brown, Jim Carlsen and Jim Bilafer.

“It is rare for a B-division boat to win the overall Cup,” said Brad King, vice commodore for the Konocti Bay Sailing Club.

In the Red finished the course in just more than six hours and had a 28-second lead over its nearest pursuer, Lakota II, for the overall Cup championship.

Bad Hare Day captained by Eric Menzel won the A division.

20 Presto! won the Half Cup with a crew of John and Preston Todd and 85-year-old foredeck crewman Burt Tunzi.

The top three finishers in the A division were Bad Hare Day, Madison, and Jack. The top three finishers in the B division were In the Red, Lakota II and No Cat Hare.

Wings won the multi-hull division.

A total of 30 boats took part in this year’s race, which featured five divisions. The field included local boats as well as entries from the Bay Area, Sierra Foothills and even Oregon.
