YOUNTVILLE >> The Clear Lake High School junior varsity baseball team closed out its season with a doubleheader split against the St. Helena Saints during North Central League I action in Yountville.
Clear Lake fell 6-4 in the first game and won 11-10 in a second game that was called after four innings because of darkness.
In the opener, losing pitcher Abe Ojdea went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Preston Jones added a pair of hits while Chris White went 1-for-4 with a RBI.
Ojeda pitched 6 2/3 innings and just missed a complete game. He struck out five.
In the late game, Ojeda, White and Jones each had two hits and a RBI as the Cardinals erased a 10-5 deficit with a six-run fourth.
White was the winning pitcher in relief.
“It was a great way to finish the season,” Clear Lake coach Jason Garrison said. “We had lost quite a few close games to this point. The guys showed a lot of heart by not giving up and coming back to win. This was a young team, they really played hard all season. It was good to see them get a hard-earned win to finish it.”
