
LAKEPORT >> Memorial Day weekend opens with a loud and thunderous bang at the Lake County Fairgrounds as the Lake County Fair and Furia Motorsports present the Tractor and Truck Pull on May 28.
Several classes will be represented, including three modified tractor classes, 6,200-pound Pro Modified 4×4 class, Country Modified Trucks, Diesel 4×4 classes, Stock and Street 4×4 classes, and the Terminator Sled. Discount tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Lake County Fair office. The discount ticket rate is $16 for adults and $13 for children under the age of 12. The box office price is $18 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m.. More information can be found at Lakecountyfair.com
On May 29, the annual Marlene Baker Memorial Bomber Bash takes center stage. The racing action includes Taco Bell Bombers, T and T Towing and Last Mile Auto Wreckers Jalopies and a boat race. “Basically you have a car that comes in off the street, gets a little bit of a safety makeover and hits the track,” race promoter David Furia said about the popularity of the jalopies. “The cars are racing around on the dirt, they hit each other, they slide into each other and it is a fun to watch chaotic mess.”
Gates on May 29 open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m.. Grandstand tickets are $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors and students, and $6 for children ages 6-11, first responders and military. Children younger than 5 are free. Family packs are also available for $30
