MIDDLETOWN >> The Middletown Area Town Hall & the Middletown Senior Center will be holding the 2nd annual Middletown Square Chili and Salsa Cook Off today at the Middletown Community Rooms /Library/ Senior Center /Middletown Square Park, 21256 Washington Street. The park and building are visible from Highway 29.
Contestants will arrive for registration and set up between 8:30-9:30 a.m. The judging will begin at 2 p.m. The awards ceremony takes place at 4 p.m. BBQ Tri-Tip and Hot dog lunch will begin at noon. Public tasting, beer and wine, arts and crafts and live music until 6 p.m.
Individual entry fee for Chili $60, Salsa $40, both $80. Business entry fee for Chili $75, Salsa $60, both $110. First prize for best chili is $1000, and the best salsa is $500. Second and Third prizes will range from $50-$200.
This year the center will have a People’s choice award ranging from $25-$50.
All proceeds to benefit the Middletown Senior center.
