
UKIAH >> Two former Lake County softball standouts who spent the 2016 season playing for the Mendocino College Eagles have been named to the All-Bay Valley Conferecne team.
Sophomore Kelsey Pearl, an Upper Lake High School graduate, earned All-BVC second-team honors as an outfielder for Mendocino. Freshman Aliza Atkins, who split time between third base and shortstop, received an honorable mention.
Pearl batted .357 in conference play with a .429 on-base percentage. She appeared in 23 of the Eagles’ 26 games. Atkins batted .313 and led the team with 11 walks. She appeared in every game.
While Atkins has one more season left with the Eagles, Pearl is moving on to Dominican College where she will pursue a teaching credential. She carried a 3.8 GPA at Mendocino.
