COBB >> The Lake County Community Pride Foundation is hosting its 10th annual Safe House of Lake County Golf Tournament on Saturday at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain. Tee time is 8:30 a.m.
The event is a fundraiser for Safe House of Lake County, which houses up to six teenagers who are victims of homelessness or abusive homes. The teenagers are required to have good attendance in school and a good grade point average. They also must follow the rules of the house. Two adult counselors live with the teenagers at the Safe House.
The four-person scramble costs $70 per golf and includes a round of golf, a golf cart and lunch catered by the Lower Lake Community Action Group. Those who do not want to play golf but only attend the lunch can do so for $20.
Check-in time is between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Lunch will be served once all the golfers have completed their 18-hole round.
“It was a beautiful event last year, and all of the attendees reported having a great time and a great meal,” said Bill MacDougall, a longtime Pride Foundation board member. “We are supporting our youth in need with the Safe House and the success of our program has been proven by the directions that our residents have taken,” said Bruno Sabatier, a Pride Foundation board member.
Safe House residents have gone to attend U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Merced and other colleges. A previous Safe House resident has started his own Safe House in Oregon.
If you cannot attend but would like to donate money to the Safe House, please send a check for the amount you wish to donate to Lake Community Pride Foundation, P.O. Box 1042, Lower Lake, CA 95457.
Pride Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 that only operates via volunteer board members and volunteer counselors. All the money raised by the Pride Foundation is used to operate the house and to feed its residents. For more information call Georgina Lehne at 987-7337 or Aggie Berry at 489-6524.
