NICE >> The sale of the Holiday Harbor property and marina failed to close escrow with bid-winner Bella Lago Development, a Lake County official confirmed today.

Multiple attempts for additional information went unanswered by the county’s administrative office, but the deal — which was worth $1.2 million and made at a Board of Supervisors meeting in March — is no longer viable.

Whatever the reason, District 3 Supervisor Jim Steele said he felt that it wasn’t “the strongest sale,” noting that the buyer wasn’t serious about developing the property to its potential.

“I never got the feeling that was on the table,” Steele added.

He did, however, note that the property will put out for sale again by Tim Vi Tran of The Ivy Group. Tran wasn’t able to be reached by the time of this story.

Meanwhile, the county has allegedly given a 30-day notice to the property’s only tenant, David Flores, who said moved in last year and made attempts to clean it up by soliciting $5 donations a few months group to residents who used the area for recreation or fishing. The effort only lasted three days, he said, before the county reprimanded him.

According to Flores, the county hasn’t done much to upkeep the property it purchased in 2008 for $2 million.

“It needs love,” he said.
