MIDDLETOWN >> The 49ers Youth Football Department kicked off its Portland Blitz week-long road trip with a Monday morning camp at Middletown High School.

Approximately 50 boys and girls participated in the three-hour-long clinic conducted by Tucker Baksa, the 49ers youth football program coordinator, and his assistant, Jason Tawiah. The campers were put through a series of fun drills that stress physical fitness as well as proper football technique.

The 49ers conducted 180 events aimed at youth football players in 2015. Monday’s stop in Middletown was the first of six camps over the next week. The free camps are part of the NFL’s Play 60 campaign, which encourages kids to be active at least 60 minutes every day while also teaching them how to play football safely.
