The “Know Lake County” series of lectures presented at the Lakeport Library every third Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from February thru December was conceived by Lake County Librarian Christopher Veach when he realized a need that the library could fill. He saw that the library’s quest of encouraging people to visit their local branch of the library as a destination spot for local information could be aided by lectures of local information given at the library where one could sit, listen and learn something unique about this beautiful place we live in.

Last year’s topics sparked the growth of lecture series all around the county from Mary Mount College, the Lake County Museum to the Gibson Museum as this idea to share information about the area in which they live found a following and expanded. As part of this expansion, PEG TV began recording the lecture series.

“We originally started the lecture series about Lake County because we heard community leaders and others talk about how the people of Lake County didn’t know about everything Lake County has to offer,” Veach said. “At the library when we see an information need we try to fill it, and a lecture series seemed to be a great way to get people together and connecting about the things that make Lake County special.

The filming of the videos and duplication of DVDs were made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Currently these are the videos available:
