UPPER LAKE >> Three members of the Upper Lake High School softball squad, all of whom will be returning next season, were recently honored on the All-North Central League II team as selected by the league’s coaches.
While the Cougars struggled to a 7-14 overall record in 2016 and a 3-7 mark in the league standings, sophomore pitcher Julia Mooney nailed down a spot on the All-League first team, the only Upper Lake player and sophomore so honored.
Two freshmen did make the first team — Technology High School’s Danielle Baker and league MVP Sully Henry of St. Vincent, the undefeated NCL II champion.
Upper Lake also landed a player on the second team, freshman catcher Cheyanne Obedoza.
Earning an honorable mention was Upper Lake sophomore infielder Adrianna Saldana.
St. Vincent had the most players honored with seven. Technology was next with six followed by Calistoga and Rincon Valley Christian with four apiece and Upper Lake with three.
St. Vincent won the NCL II title with a 10-0 record. Tech and Calistoga tied for second place at 7-3.
