Thank you
I am both humbled and excited by the results in Tuesday’s Election. I want to thank the voters for their confidence and my campaign volunteers for their faith in me. I look forward to a competitive general election and know together we can move Lake County in a positive direction.

Drifting off center
Peter MacRae’s recent letter addresses the problem of our colleges’ and universities’ failure to include critical thinking as a key component in their courses. His example was the attempt by educators in Portland, Oregon to ban any materials refuting current climate change dogma. Mr. MacRae is well qualified to voice concern about these attempts to stifle critical thinking, since he is a well-known retired university professor and noted author.
Academia’s continuing drift to the left is cause for concern in more than just the climate change issue, however. In some cases the basic values that uphold our culture are at risk. Just look at the fact that the youth of our nation provided the greatest support for an avowed socialist as president.
Where did these kids get the idea that socialism might be the solution to our problems? Here’s one possible answer: In April the Wall Street Journal reported that a comprehensive study by James Lindgren of Northwestern University Law School showed that in a nation more or less evenly divided by Reds and Blues, only 13 percent of law professors are republican or libertarian. This figure falls into line with data from The Higher Education Research Institute that only 12 percent of university faculty identify as politically right of center, and these scholars are usually in fields like engineering. Only 5 percent of professors in the humanities or social-sciences departments so identify. This would indicate where at least some of those kids get their socialist ideas.
This is not to imply that those on the left of center do not have good ideas, but merely that a truly diverse faculty would be more likely to explore all facets of every argument from climate change, to the budget deficit, or from entitlements to the war on terror, and the result would be students gaining the perspectives necessary to develop their own critical thinking.

What’s with that?
Thirty-one Dem State Attorney Generals have filled out papers to make it a crime if you don’t believe in Global Warming and the Multnomah Oregon School Board passed a resolution banning books contrary to Global Warming. So why don’t you Dems just strap on your boot jacks, plaster a swastika on your arm, raise your arm and holler “Sieg Heil” to show us who you really are, and maybe even bring back book burning. If the Republicans mandated nothing but the opposite should be taught and legislated you, on the left, would be in the streets rioting.
There was a new study out that said all of the temp models are bogus, but oh no, you Dems want to stifle free speech thus tramping on the Constitution. Most of all of this Global Warming is funded by the far left with an agenda not aimed at science. Do you think money has anything to do with only one view? You bet it does, it’s called Carbon Credits or as its really known as a new tax!
Mt. St. Helens is pumping out more pollution in a day than is produced by the whole state in a year, as per USGS Facts & Figures. If you do your research with an open mind you will find as much anti Global Warming as for. But to listen to the left wing lame stream media, you are an idiot if you don’t believe in their view. Just like at a Portland University, students were asked to donate to Hamas even though they were told their donations were going to kill Jews, blow up hospitals and kill innocents! Then to top it all off, the majority were for Shariah Law!, and this is only taught by far left teachers or 90 percent of the faculty across the U.S. Does a one-way street ring a bell?
And on transgender rights, all you have to do is ask President Obama and his wife “are you going to allow your girls shower with a transgender boy?” And the same question to their private school they attend. Something tells me that will be the end of that stupid conversation. And Elizabeth Warren bashes Trump for being successful. Well you might as well bash every American who wants to be successful. Think about it, she wants to be successful but bashes everybody else for wanting to be successful. What’s with that? Oh that’s right, Dem’s war on profit. Do you tell your children they can’t be successful? Does Elizabeth Warren think she can’t be successful? NOT!!! So why does she have the right to tell you you can’t be successful. After all President Obama said “you didn’t make that”, that’s right I worked all of my life to retire in comfort and I didn’t make that!!! Unfortunately I didn’t get a Nobel Peace Prize before I did anything.
Then we find out 71 percent of Dems will vote for Hillary even if she is indicted for a felony! What’s with that??? Are you Dems that brain dead??? You break Federal Law and you are fit to be President. I didn’t say that about Richard Nixon and neither did you on the left. So what’s with this?

Thoughts on expression
The sounds that make a language align the meaning of language by timing, tone, and articulation; and the same alignment is often made by physical gestures, violent or mild. Add to this all the intricacies of facial expression and it can be said that human society functions in meaning like a fish functions in water, completely engulfed. Even two strangers, meeting inadvertently, hold action and facial expression taut as in a vice, held in deference to social atmosphere and the uncertain possibilities of future exploitation.
A levelheaded politician, trained to swim in these waters, can, by virtue of his or her extensive study, muster more than a mere vote for the power of the people; and, due to his or her broader awareness, feel more than the average voter’s balance of sympathy among the causes presented. The politician, often maligned, is, instead, of great value in man’s leading of man.
