Lakeport >> The 1963 war adventure drama “The Great Escape,” starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough and Charles Bronson, screens at the Soper Reese Theatre in on Tuesday at 1 and 6 p.m.
Based on a true story of allied prisoners plotting to break out of a Nazi detention camp in World War II, the film is particularly notable for McQueen’s portrayal of the irreverent “Cooler King” and for his spectacular motorcycle chase scene in which he performed his own stunts.
