Middletown >> The Middletown Arts Center (MAC) is offering its summer art camp for children ages 5-13. This year’s theme, “Adventures in Art with Animals” will engage a child’s imagination, creativity and curiosity through animal-related projects in painting, drawing, ceramics, mask making, performance art and paper mache.

Adventures in Art with Animals will happen this Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $250 for 10 days with a 10-percent discount for MAC members or multiple siblings. Includes healthy snacks.

Scholarships for those who lost their home in the Valley Fire or are otherwise in need are available through donations from the Lake Area Rotary Club Association Fire Relief Fund, Lake County Rising and MAC benefactors. Advance registration is requested, visit www.middletownartcenter.org and click “classes” to register online and pay via PayPal, send a check to P.O. Box 1616 Middletown,CA 95461, call (707) 809-8118 or email MiddletownArtCenter@gmail.com to reserve a spot. Advance payment is preferred.

MAC’s key goals are to inspire every child and adult to express themselves and grow through the arts and arts exposure, while bolstering the quality of life and sustainability of the community in support of a healthy local economy.

MAC is a nonprofit center made by community members for the community to enjoy. The center offers a colorful palette of classes for children, teens and adults and contemporary art exhibitions featuring work by local artists.

MAC also hosts art openings, musical guest performances, open mic and hootenannys every other Friday, and now its newest program, Art Talks, informative and interactive presentations by artists and art aficionados in the visual and performing arts.

The gallery is open Friday noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. or by appointment (subject to seasonal changes).
