LOWER LAKE >> The Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is offering a free hunter education course in Lower Lake on July 11-13 and July 16 at the Red Brick Hall, 16374 Main Street.

Monday through Wednesday class hours are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at all three venues. Saturday class hours are 8 a.m. to noon.

You must attend all days and hours to receive full credit and must pass the required test for certification. Completion is necessary for those who do not currently hold a hunting license but who wish to obtain one.

Training topics include hunter and firearm safety, ethics and hunter responsibility, basic first aid, wildlife identification and management, hunting techniques, various hunting equipment, and wild game care.

You can register online at www.wildlife.ca.gov/Hunter-Education by following the step-by-step instructions. Class space is limited and sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis.
