LAKEPORT >> Racing fans at the Lakeport and Ukiah speedways are going to get a double dose of fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.

Thanks to contributions from Factory Pipe, Friedman’s Home Improvement and Mendo Lake Credit Union with support from Kelseyville Lumber, Furia Construction, Max 93.5 FM, K-WINE 94.5 FM, The Cost Cutter and Bicoastal Media, pyrotechnic displays will be taking place at dusk at the Lakeport Speedway on July 2 and at Ukiah Speedway on July 3.

Engines will be revving in Lakeport on July 2 for the Kelseyville Lumber Deake Lyndall Memorial Race featuring the Taco Bell Bombers, jammers, vintage cars, modifieds, Pro Drifters and Northern California modifieds. The cars head over the hill to Ukiah on July 3 as the Lakeport-Ukiah Challenge continues featuring the bandoleros, bombers, jammers, Legends Cars, modifieds and Northern California modifieds. Gates open at each track at 3:30 p.m. and racing begins at 5 p.m.

Race promoter David Furia is responsible for bringing the fireworks shows to the speedways.

“The show is an incredible in-your-face display of fireworks and pyrotechnics,” Furia said. “The style of fireworks that will be presented will astound and amaze every person in the grandstands. This will be the fireworks show that will make people wish they had been there. The crew puts on a great show and we have never been disappointed.”

Advance tickets can be purchased from from Ukiah Lions youth cheerleaders by calling 671-2689. The cheerleading team also will be selling fireworks show tickets at Subway in the Raley’s Crossroads Shopping Center starting on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every ticket sale raises much-needed funds for the cheer team.

Tickets to either race are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students and $10 for children ages 6-11. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. There is a $5 parking fee at the Ukiah Fairgrounds parking lot, however the parking stub is redeemable at the ticket gate for $5 off one gate entry for the race and fireworks show. The Ukiah Speedway pit gate will open at 8:30 p.m. to allow parking inside the fairgrounds. There will be a $20 charge per car to park inside the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks.
