MIDDLETOWN >> The South Lake County Fire Protection District will receive $2.2 million in assistance from California’s budget to help fund its operations for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, State Sen. Mike McGuire announced at the Valley Fire town hall meeting on Thursday.
The aid is needed, Mcguire said, because the district incurred costs of nearly same amount during the Valley Fire. It is also approximately equal to its yearly budget, so it is expected to be sufficient until next July.
“It is our job to make sure that not only are we rebuilding, but we are rebuilding stronger than ever for Lake County,” he said. “We’re making significant progress, but I can tell you: it’s not fast enough for me. We have a lot of a lot of work to do.”
Mcquire also claimed that a $500,00 grant for environmental and engineering design work for the Anderson Springs sewer project.
