Over the weekend the Clearlake Police Department reported on another in a series of successful marijuana eridication operations that began two months ago. On Wednesday officers confiscated 1,493 plants arresting two people in the process.

The operation began when CPD officers executed a search warrant in the 3000 block of Robin Lane in Clearlake during daytime hours. According to a statement issued by the department, the property in question contained several large half dome/hoop style structures, which were allegedly being used for the illegal cultivation of marijuana.

Inside the house, officers located evidence suggesting the residence was being used as a large scale marijuana cultivation operation. To the south of the main residence, there were two sheds, which had been converted to indoor growing rooms, according to the CPD report.

Officers discovered 360 plants in one shde, 576 in the other. To the west of the residence there was a large fenced in area that contained several structures. Inside these officers located another 557 plants. In addition, officers discovered several hundred rounds of ammunition.

Jose Montes-Saavedra, 32, and Juan Saavedra, 47, were inside the initial residence. They were arrested on suspicion of cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime.
