Lake County libraries
All branches of the Lake County Library system will be closed Saturday to observe Independence Day. Normal hours at all branches will resume on July 5. Call your local branch if you have any questions. Even though the library will be closed cardholders can still go online to the library website at http://library.lakecountyca.gov to download ebooks, audiobooks and magazines. Cardholders can also check on their account, renew any items checked out or requests books from libraries in Lake, Sonoma and Mendocino to pick up at a local branch when the library reopens.
Lakeport Library, located at 1425 N. High St., is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The phone number is 263-8817.
Redbud Library, 14785 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake, is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday noon to 7 p.m. The phone number is 994-5115.
Middletown Library, 21256 Washington St., is open Tuesday through Friday noon-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The phone number is 987-3674.
Upper Lake Library, 310 Second St., is open Tuesday through Friday noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The phone number is 275-2049.
Landfill/public services office
The Eastlake Landfill and the Lake County Public Services office will be closed Monday in observance of Independence Day.
For those on county garbage service, residential and commercial collection for Monday will be on July 5. Normal collection schedules will resume the week following the holiday.
Lakeport Disposal will collect according to their normal schedule.

Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The public services office is normally open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

National forest offices
WILLOWS >> Mendocino National Forest offices will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July holiday on Monday. Offices will resume regular business hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
For your safety, plan ahead and be properly prepared for your trip to the Mendocino National Forest. Be aware that weather may change quickly and plan accordingly. Tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return. Remember that cell phones are unreliable in many parts of the forest. Carry emergency equipment in your vehicle. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
Ann Carlson, Mendocino Forest supervisor says, “We invite you to get outdoors and enjoy all the Mendocino has to offer. While visiting the forest, we need your help to prevent wildfires; please be responsible and have a safe and enjoyable trip on the forest.”
With hot and dry conditions continuing, visitors are asked to be careful with fire on the Mendocino National Forest including campfires, gas stoves and lanterns. All fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited on public lands.
Visitors are encouraged to check with local offices for information about current conditions before traveling to the forest.
