LAKEPORT >> A new event being produced by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce will take place in Library Park on Sunday, July 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Kiss My Clear Lake Bass currently has a dozen candidates who have volunteered to assist the Chamber with this fundraiser. Candidates are seeking votes to help them come out as the ultimate winner and actually kiss a real live Clear Lake Bass. The public can vote for their favorite candidate by casting votes for $1 per vote.
Currently leading the pack is Sheriff Brian Martin followed close behind by Bernie Butcher of The Tallman Hotel/Blue Wing Saloon. Also in the running are Terry Knight, Outdoor Writer for the Record-Bee, Terry Derenuik, Executive Director of the Lake County Winery Association, Jose ‘Moke’ Simon, Middletown Rancheria/Twin Pine Casino/St Helena Brewing Company and candidate for District One Supervisor, Jennifer Strong, Strong Financial Network, Monica Rosenthal of Rvineyards and candidate for District One Supervisor, Barbara Breunig, Hillside Powersports & Marine, Al Menchaca, Old World Tavern, Martin Scheel, Lakeport City Councilmember/candidate for District 4 Supervisor, Beau Moore, BlackRock Golf Course and Tom Lincoln, Lincoln/Leavitt Insurance.
These great folks are seeking your support so they can have the honor of kissing that Clear Lake Bass. Every candidate has identified a Lake County non-profit and the Chamber will be awarding cash prizes to the non-profits for the top 3 winners of the competition: $1000 to first place winner, $500 to second place and $250 to third place.
Non-profit beneficiaries identified to date are: Jake Steely Family, Middletown Football League, Lake County Land Trust, Soper Reese Bathroom Renovation, Operation Tango Mike, Lake County Rising, Hospice Services of Lake County, People Services, West Shore Little League, and Lake County Rising.
Voting is easy — each of the candidates have a ballot box at their place of business with some exceptions: Moke Simon’s ballot box is located at the St. Helena Brewing Company in Middletown; Martin Scheel’s is in City Hall. Of course, votes can be cast at the Chamber office at 875 Lakeport Blvd. at Vista Point in Lakeport, and soon on our website. Voters may also call the Chamber at 263-5092 and use a credit card to vote.
Sunday, July 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Library Park, there will be a BBQ put on by the Kiwanis Club of Lakeport, kids games, music, candidate speeches on why they should be voted to Kiss the Clear Lake Bass and much more family fun. Tickets for the BBQ will be available soon. For more information, contact the Chamber at 263-5092.
