Clearlake >> Police have arrested two cousins linked with domestic violence and a shooting at a McDonald’s in broad daylight this past weekend.
Tailor Broman faces multiple felony charges including attempted murder for allegedly firing a handgun from inside a vehicle before fleeing the Clearlake restaurant on Dam Road Extension Sunday afternoon, according to city police Lt. Tim Celli.
No one was shot or injured during the incident, which occurred after a fight broke out between an employee and Clearlake resident Owen Valenzuela, who allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and left her at the McDonald’s.
She was crying when the employee saw her on his break. He and another man, both friends of the victim, tried consoling her as she continued to get phone calls from Valenzuela, 19, “badgering and verbally abusing her,” Celi said.
Valenzuela returned to the McDonald’s with Broman, 21, about 30 minutes after his alleged assault at 2 p.m.
When the fight between Valenzuela and the McDonald’s employee ensued, Broman shot in the employee’s direction, according to Clearlake police. The two then left the scene.
In an attempt to find the suspects, Clearlake Police Department (CPD) officers used an emergency track on one of the phones and found out they left the county, Celli said. Officers believed the suspects were returning to Broman’s home in Stockton.
CPD law enforcement coordinated with Stockton police, and they had officers waiting for Valenzuela and Broman as they arrived at the residence.
Both suspects were safely taken into custody without incident at approximately 5:30 p.m., Celli said.
During a vehicle search, Stockton police officers found a 9-mm handgun inside. They coordinated a transfer of evidence and suspects with Clearlake police and the two agencies met in Woodland where CPD took custody, Celli said.
Both suspects were transported and later booked at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
Valenzuela is charged with felony domestic violence and conspiracy. Broman is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied car.
