CLEARLAKE >> Investigators believe they are closer to finding the suspect in a July 4 stabbing incident. One man remains in intensive care as a result of the altercaton.
A friend brought the victim, 23-year-old Troy Bailey, to St. Helena Clearlake Hospital with severe wounds in the early morning hours. When officers arrived shortly afterward, they were informed Bailey was suffering from several apparent stab wounds.
Due to his injuries, Bailey was flown to an out of county hospital.
According to Clearlake Police Lt. Tim Celli, the friend said Bailey had attended a party that night. While on the phone with him she overheard what sounded like a verbal argument .
“The female stated she went to the area of the party and as she was pulling up, saw several subjects fighting in the street,” Celli said in a press report. “She could not, or would not identify the subjects or their ethnicity at that time.”
In her statement to police, the friend said she saw Bailey fall on the ground . She reportedly picked him up off the ground and put him in her vehicle and drove him to the hospital.
The female was reportedly uncooperative with any further investigation at that time. Authorities are not releasing her name at this time.
Police were not given any further information and it was unclear where the incident took place or who was involved. Although working with few details, officers later developed other sources and information that has developed into possible suspect information.
Through investigation, it was learned that Bailey was at a party at a residence located in the area of Walnut and Cottonwood Street. At some point during the party, Bailey and the suspect got into a verbal argument which led to a physical fight involving multiple suspects.
During the fight, the suspect allegedly stabbed Bailey several times.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has information related to this case, should contact the Clearlake Police Investigations Unit.
