LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport City Council awarded a contract to Garavaglia Architecture at its most recent regular meeting, giving the company permission to design Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades for Carnegie Library.
According to Community Development Director Kevin Ingram, the city is primarily looking to install a mechanical lift and handicap modifications in the historic building’s bathroom. Until that and possibly other work is completed, it will remain closed to the public.
The contract is worth $34,900, according to city documents. It is mostly funded a federal community development block grant.
“I think they will do a good job for us,” Lakeport Economic Development Advisory Committee chair Wilda Shock said, adding that they’ve worked on the library’s previous study.
It was unanimously approved, 5-0.
