Clearlake and Middletown United Methodist Churches are pleased to announce the beginning of Rev. Shannon Kimbell-Auth’s pastorate with the congregations. Pastor Shannon is known in the community for her 17 years of service with United Christian Parish and as the President of the Lake Ministerial Association which operated the Homeless Warming Shelter in Lakeport last year.
Her ministry in Clearlake will include a focus on our homeless neighbors. Kimbell-Auth is hoping to lead a coalition of volunteers to open a Warming Shelter in the south county this year. Although this is her first week she is already meeting with Mayor Perdock and Senator McGuire to identify an appropriate location and funding and is looking for volunteers interested in being on the team.
Those interested in helping with the shelter next winter are invited to call 994-2134 or email PastorShannon@earthlink.net to be invited to the next planning team meeting.
Her ministry in Middletown will include a focus on long term fire recovery. She is already serving as the Chair of the Unmet Need Committee for Team Lake County and is the Team leader for Camp Noah a program to bring hope, healing and resiliency for children impacted by the Valley Fire. Those wishing to help with Camp Noah are encouraged to call 987-3379 or sign up at CampNoah.org.
This Sunday, at both churches, Pastor Shannon will tell the story of how being stranded on an island off the west coast of the Scottish highlands eventually led her to ministry in Lake County. It is a tale of fierce storms, fiercer doubt, belief and grace. They welcome all to join them in Clearlake at 9:30 a.m. or in Middletown at 11:30 a.m.
Clearlake UMC is located at 14521 Pearl Ave in Clearlake. Middletown UMC is located at 15833 Armstrong St in Middletown. All are welcome.
