WASHINGTON, D.C. >> U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-5) on Friday released a statement in response to the shootings in Dallas, Texas.
“Last night, a peaceful night was shattered by senseless violence when law enforcement officers were targeted and killed,” Thompson said. “We cannot allow this epidemic of gun violence to continue devastating our communities. We must come together as a nation to end this horrific violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dallas and the families of those who lost their lives.”
Thompson represents California’s 5th Congressional District, which includes all or part of Contra Costa, Lake, Napa, Solano and Sonoma Counties. He is a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Rep. Thompson is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and chairs the bipartisan, bicameral Congressional Wine Caucus.
