FOLSOM >> A man convicted of a Lake County murder more than 15 years ago was killed at the California maximum security prison in Folsom last week, officials said.
At around 1:30 p.m. on July 7, Humberto Torres, 33, received multiple stab wounds during an altercation at the facility. He was declared dead shortly after, Lt. Tony Quinn said.
Handed over by the county in early 2000, he was serving a 25-years-to-life sentence for second-degree murder with a firearm.
So far, authorities have identified two suspects: Rudy Delossantos, 38, and 33-year-old Michael Robles. Both are convicted murderers from Southern California and face potential life sentences, according to Quinn.
Correctional officers used rubber bullets, blast dispersion grenades, and pepper spray to break up the attack. They were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Further details were not released.
