Maddox Velez-Pounds, 7, of Kelseyville posted a winning score of 84 during the mutton busting competition on Saturday night during the Lake County Rodeo at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport. Velez-Pounds, who will soon be entering the second grade at Riviera Elementary School, rode his sheep the full 18 seconds and never fell off. As the mutton busting champion, he received a belt buckle.
