SANTA ROSA >> Richard Lee Watson, Jr. of Hidden Valley Lake was awarded a Juris Doctor degree with Cum Laude honors from Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa, California on June 5.

Prior to attending law school, Watson earned an A.S. degree in Business Science from the University of Phoenix and worked in sales and finance in the RV industry. He is an active member of his local community and volunteers his time with involvement in Clearlake Rotary Club, coaching youth soccer, basketball, baseball, and in the past high school football. He also serves as a board member of the Clearlake Youth Soccer League.

During Law School, Watson was awarded the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Criminal Law. He began employment as a law clerk for a criminal conflict attorney. He then got an opportunity to work for the Sonoma County Public Defender’s Office. Watson also participated in Empire College’s Small Claims Advisory Clinic, Elder Law Clinic, and was a team member of the 2015 Moot Court team.

Presently Watson works at a personal injury firm in Lake County. He plans to continue in civil law and to continue his dedication to his community focusing on academic opportunities for the youth of Lake County.

Watson and his wife, Lorena Watson, reside in Hidden Valley Lake with their two sons, Joshua and Joey Watson.

Empire College School of Law, founded in 1973, is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California and offers evening Juris Doctor and Master of Legal Studies programs.
