LAKEPORT >> Round five of the Nor-Cal Short Track Championship Series shifted to Delbert’s Memorial Raceway where motorcycles competed on a new surface as officials have changed it from blue groove to cushion.
Practice sessions found the track to be a bit on the tacky and muddy side in some areas but the riders eventually found their lines and appeared to be happy with the overall feel of the new surface. While course officials groomed the track for the heats and mains, the heat of the day dried things out a bit, creating dusty conditions.
“It’s a work in progress,” promoter David Furia said of the Delbert’s course. “We learned some things from the weekend that we can improve on. Although it may have not been perfect, it sure led to some close, exciting racing.”
