The Children’s Museum of Art and Science (CMAS) is hosting a fundraising event at DJ’s Pizza in Lower Lake on Wednesday, August 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The all you can eat event costs $8 per person. Raffle tickets for a “Summer Surprise” basket will be sold as well.
CMAS is excited to announce a new pilot program at Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville which will start in the fall. The Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) is offering a “Second Saturday Science” program for Lake County students in grades 3 through 5. Volunteers from CMAS, LCOE staff, and the Friends of Taylor Observatory (FOTO) will man a variety of stations which will include a planetarium show, solar telescope viewing, using Bots, building Lego robots, and other hands-on science activities. Every second Saturday, 32 students will be bused from their school to the observatory for the four hour program and then bused back to their school again. A light snack will be provided.
This program will be free to students, and in this initial year, there will be no cost to the districts. Each of the six districts will be allotted a month. The program will run October, November, January, February, March and April.
Proceeds from this pizza fundraiser will help to defray costs of this program.
CMAS, LCOE, and FOTO are proud to collaborate as partners to bring hands-on science learning to our students. Please support our efforts by joining us for pizza on August 3.
