LAKEPORT >> The Lake County Board of Supervisors finalized the repayment plan for District 4 Candidate Martin Scheel’s sunken crane at its regular meeting on Tuesday.

Passed unanimously, the deal requires Scheel to pay back the $55,906.07 he owes via monthly payments. The agreement set an interest rate of 1.525 percent.

“I don’t 100 percent like it, but it’s better than nothing,” District 2 Supervisor Jeff Smith said. “I think it’s a compromise.”

The rate, Administrative Officer Carol Huchingson said, was based off the average for other investments the county has made over the last ten years.

Payments will begin in July.
