UKIAH >> Ukiah Speedway hosted its annual Armed Forces Night on Saturday at Ukiah Speedway. All military personnel and first responders were treated to free admission while fans paid only $5 for grandstand tickets.
Insignia flags were placed around the track while the stands were decorated with flags and streamers. Fans were treated to a racing card featuring the jammers, Taco Bell Bombers, T&T Towing Jalopies, Pro-4 Modifieds and the Pacific Challenge Series Late Models.
Jammers
David Rogers swept the jammers division by winning both heat race and main event. In the main, he took the checkered flag in front of Brandi Robertson, Raymond Taylor Jr., Gene Odell Sr. and Gene Odell Jr.
Rogers also had the best lap time of 15.643 seconds, that coming on lap 27 of the main event.
Bombers
Bob Mook and Dave Land III secured heat race wins in the bomber division but it was Raymond Taylor Sr. taking the top spot in the main event. He crossed the finish line in front of Mook, Roy Ingalls Jr., Land III and Dave Land Jr.
Pro-4 Modifieds
Scott Brown won the heat race and finished third in the main event behind winner Jimmy Badeker and runner-up Marty Lewis. Rick Jelton came in fourth and Sami Nuno was fifth.
Badeker had the best lap time at 14.002.
Late Models
Chris Scribner won the Pro-4 Modifieds trophy dash but it was Mike Beeler who came away with the main event victory, beating Joel Courage, Scribner, Mike Roman and Corey James to the finish line. Beeler made the winning pass on lap 49 following a red flag.
Schedule
Racing action continues Saturday at Lakeport Speedway where bandoleros, bombers, jalopies, jammers, Legends Cards and mini-stocks will compete. Early next month in Ukiah (Aug. 4-7) the Redwood Empire Fair will offer four nights of racing action.
