Love of neighbors
Galilee Lutheran Church, Kelseyville
Lay leaders: Bob Hamilton and Craig Waters
Christmas in July! What better time to close our eyes, imagine snowflakes and open fireplaces, and remember the Baby born in Bethlehem? Christmas carols are the featured music this Sunday at Galilee.
In contrast to silent nights and o’little towns, the lessons this Sunday address two infamous Old Testament cities, bargaining with God, the Lord’s Prayer, true hospitality, and the love of our neighbors, aliens and even our enemies … certainly those who live outside our normal circle of friends. Today’s lessons can be applied to our world today, if we but listen. Will America be remembered as another Bethlehem, or as Sodom and Gomorrah?
Holy Communion will be celebrated at our 9 a.m. service outdoors. We also meet at Rocky Point Skilled Nursing in Lakeport at 2:45 p.m. for old-time Gospel singing, and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Galilee’s conference room for Bible study.
And yes, in the spirit of true hospitality, and the desire to remain fire- and brimstone-free, we do welcome everyone.
Galilee Lutheran is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road, just 1/4 mile south of Konocti Harbor Inn, and also on Facebook and at www.galileekelseyville,org.
What is worship?
Clear Lake Baptist Church, Lakeport
Pastor Ray Smith
This week we will be the last in the series on worship. We will be discussing what worship is all about. We have come a long way in this series and have concluded that worship is transformational, formational, relational, and missional (check out series online).
We have seen that worship involves what God has done for you. This will affect the way you interact with God and how you will interact with others. Our study takes us to the heart of what it takes to be a follower of Christ.
Join us this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to find out where your heart is. Come at 9:15 a.m. for stimulating Bible studies for all ages. We have midweek services so check out the schedule online or call the church office (707) 263-3256. Listen to sermons online.
Our Tuesday night AWANA kids club is on break for the Summer. Visit our website for other services and times; www.clearlakebaptistchurch.org.
