Guns and Rush
Mr. Murphey (RB 7-26) states, “This information shows that there is no correlation between having an abundance of gun laws and safety.” He may not have heard of what occurred in Australia in 1996. They had their worst mass shooting in their history so they enacted sweeping law changes and the results are: mass shootings in the prior 18 years, 13; following 18 years, 0; murder rate took a steep decline as well as the suicide rate. This shows a correlation between gun laws and safety. The problem with California’s laws is that they have to be crafted so that SCOTUS does not overturn them, which may explain the lack of effectiveness. I wonder what Mr. Murphey would say about the current Federal laws concerning military grade weapons.
Now on to Rush Limbaugh, whom can be relied on to perceive the intricacies of the political mind. Michelle Obama told us of how she was staying in a house built by slaves that the country now allowed a black president and family to reside in. She was telling us how far we had come since the founding of our nation. Rush Limbaugh, who calls progressive liberalism a mental disorder, responded that Obama just couldn’t let slavery go. That they had to bring it up to divide the country instead of letting it go and forgive. Was he even listening to what was being said? Way back in September of 2009, concerning a beating of a white student by blacks on a school bus, he said that this was a result of Obama’s America. Seven months was all it took to exacerbate the racial divide. No matter how many times Obama spoke out against this problem (and there have been many) Rush knew what the President’s hidden agenda was. The irony here is that back then Rush said that when you put your child on a bus you expect them to be safe. But now he says that when you put your child into college you can’t expect them to be safe. Remember his comments on the students at ‘Mizzou’? So, whenever someone says, “Rush Limbaugh says …” I just drop in into the round file, because not even Rush listens to what he himself has said when it doesn’t fit his agenda.
