Lucerne Elementary School is committed to fostering students who actively engage in the learning process, are organized, and capable of critical thinking. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program that uses research based strategies to support students in meeting high academic standards by teaching the skills needed for academic success. Students use binders and agendas to organize their academic notes and assignments. Teachers create lessons that are student centered and focus on the critical content. The School works to celebrate successes and create a school culture that values education, hard work, and independent determination.
Reading and Math intervention will be available to students who are struggling academically. The ASES afterschool program is available for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. A before and after school homework room will be provided to assist students with homework completion and Summer School will be provided at the end of the year.
PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and Character Counts will provide all students with a positive learning environment in which to excel in. Extracurricular activities to include Drama, Leadership/Gate, organized recess activities, after school sports and lunchtime reading groups will round out the student’s educational experience.
