CLEARLAKE OAKS >> Singer, songwriter and ventriloquist Brent Vernon will be performing at Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 25. There will be a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6 p.m.

For the past 21 years, Vernon’s concert ministry has inspired many. One unique facet of a Brent Vernon concert is his hilariously sidekick dummy, Sam. In every presentation, kids of all ages are delighted by this quirky little man. Brent, with Sam, has performed around the United States, as well as in Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean.

With a schedule over 120 appearances each year, Vernon has developed a remarkable ability to connect with all age groups. Audiences find Vernon’s concerts to be quirky and fun. His lyrics are biblically based, encouraging and uplifting with the music spanning a range of styles in gospel, pop, jazz and more.

“In the beginning, I wanted to be taken seriously as a musician,” Vernon said. “But children’s ministry runs deep in my family. My parents encouraged my interest in puppetry when I was quite young. And as it turned out, I had a knack for it. When ventriloquism became a part of my program, there was no turning back. People really love Sam.”

Brent’s most recent musical CD is Hope & Hunger. He has recorded four CDs of his own and four with his sidekick Sam. With every opportunity to share, Brent does so with conviction, pouring himself into the messages of the songs and stories.

The performance is free and everyone is welcome. A freewill offering is encouraged for Brent’s ministry. For more information please leave a message at Clearlake Oaks UMC at (707) 998-9435 or see brentvernon.com for more details.
